Since the Chinese invented the compass more than 2000 years ago, the Chinese people have travelled and traded widely. Wherever in the world the Chinese people settle, they retain an innate sense of family, tradition and community. But what does the rest of the world understand about this community beyond Chinese restaurants, tourists, economic stats and news reports? Photography can help that understanding – the visual language is universal; a photograph can speak 1000 words.
This project is launched at the ACTIVE’s Annual Chinese New Year Reception on 24th January 2020; it is set up to reach out via photography, to the Chinese people in their homeland, and/or in their adopted countries, telling stories about their lives, environment and experiences. As the founder of the project, we want to ask the Global Family of Chinese Heritage to share their world.
